Mangalore University established the Dharmanidhi Yoga Peetha in 1983 through a donation of Rs. 4.8 lakhs made by the Trustees of Temples of the then Dakshina Kannada district to establish three- fold activities in the field of Yoga; namely, teaching, therapy and research. On 3.12.1998, Mangalore University started the M.Sc. programme in Yogic Science for the first time in the country with the objective of training young students. Other courses are PhD, PG Diploma, and Certificate Courses.
